AMY ALLAIS: Growing up Amy dreamed of making the word a better place, but now she directs commercials. After graduating from AFDA (South African Film and Drama Academy), where she learned the proper way to roll cable, Amy laboured as a researcher and director in Johannesburg. Her break came in 2004, when she was given the opportunity to direct “Besperm My” for Network#BBDO, which garnered her a nomination for the CFP/Shots Young Director Award at Cannes. Amy went on to direct spots for a roster of local and international clients and in 2007 was one of the founding members of Ola!Films . Being the boss means she can get to work any time she damn well pleases, which is usually 10 am. As her showreel testifies, Amy is an all–rounder. Her irresistible sense of humour, quirky eye and instinctive feel for performance have placed her amongst SA’s most admired and sought after directors.
